The reduction to the essential in dealing with line, surface, color and space characterizes the artistic work of the Cologne based sculptor Lutz Fritsch. In his sculptures, wall works and drawings, he examines these aspects both in an intuitive and analytical manner, thus creating settings that specifically intervene in existing spatial structures, change rooms or even create new spaces. The line so characteristic of his art can also be found in the two-part large sculpture »Standortmitte« (2008) in Cologne and Bonn, and his »Bibliothek im Eis« [»Library in Ice«] (2005) in the Antarctic shows that spaces of thought can indeed become real.
